| If you didn’t attend you missed a great class instructed by our
dealers own service manager, Eric Fontaine. A bike and a lift were brought
up to the HOG room for the demonstration. As an item was talked about
Eric pointed them out for all to see.
Items covered:
Tires
Brakes
Cables
Spark plugs
Belt tension
Fuses
Primary chain
Synthetic oil
Cleaning your bike
Warranty
There was a discussion on preventive maintenance what you can do on your
bike.
For example:
Plugs: replacing your spark plugs according to your owners manual, is
not because they are wore out, but preventing them from being corroded
to your cylinder heads.
Brakes: if your brake pad material is thinner than the backing plate,
its time to change you pads. Waiting too long will damage your rotors.
Cables: can be lubricated periodically to prevent the cable from chafing
or even breaking.
Don’t neglect your scheduled maintenance, its there for a reason.
We also discussed troubleshooting.
For example:
Blowing fuses, what causes them to blow and how to prevent further wiring
damage.
(Never replace a blown fuse with a higher rated fuse, wiring harness damage
could occur)
Synthetic oil can help lower operating temperatures.
Living in Florida corrosion is a problem. To help prevent US0824425 corrosion
your bike needs to be washed regularly. After washing and drying your
bike apply a protectorant to almost every part. DO NOT apply protectorant
to tires, brake rotors or your seat.
The class was in no way intended to teach you everything about your bike,
but to educate you on daily maintenance of your bike. Look forward to
additional classes.
